Peningkatan Literasi Sains Siswa Melalui Pembelajaran IPA Berbasis Socioscientific Issues (SSI)

Abstract

Hasil PISA menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan literasi siswa Indonesia masih rendah, sehingga perlu adanya perbaikan terhadap pembelajaran. Salah satunya adalah menerapkan pembelajaran sains yang berkonteks socioscientific issues (SSI). Tujuan dari penulisan artikel ini adalah untuk mengulas literasi sains serta kondisi literasi sains siswa Indonesia, memaparkan mengenai SSI serta implikasi SSI dalam pembelajaran sains serta menganalisis peningkatan literasi sains siswa melalu pembelajaran IPA berkonteks Socioscientific Issue (SSI). Penulisan artikel ini disajikan dengan Systematic Literature Review (SLR) dengan PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items For Systematic Reviews and Meta Analyses). Artikel yang dianalisis diambil dari database google scholar menggunakan aplikasi publish or perish 8 dan diperoleh 15 artikel yang dikaji dan dianalisis untuk menjawab tujuan penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dan pemaparan pembahasan artikel didapatkan hasil 1) literasi sains adalah kecakapan individu untuk berperan serta terhadap persoalan-persoalan yang berkenaan dengan sains, dan dengan pemikiran-pemikiran sains, selaku warga negara yang reflektif. Dari hasil PISA didapatkan informasi bahwa literasi sains siswa masih rendah, 2) Pembelajaran SSI memiliki ciri kontroversial karena menyajikan sebuah persoalan yang dipandang dari multi perspektif, tidak memiliki kesimpulan sederhana karena memiliki pertimbangan etika dan moralitas, 3) secara keselruah dari hasil pengkajian jurnal, pembelajaran sains berkonteks SSI dapat meningkatkan literasi sains siswa.
