Abstract

Performa fisik merupakan salah satu faktor penting dalam menunjang keberhasilan pemain sepak bola profesional. Salah satu faktor yang dapat memengaruhi kemampuan fisik atlet adalah karakteristik antropometri, khususnya Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan IMT dengan kemampuan sprint dan kapasitas aerobik pada pemain sepak bola profesional PSMS Medan. pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional dan desain cross-sectiona. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 30 pemain profesional PSMS Medan yang dipilih menggunakan teknik total sampling. Data IMT diperoleh melalui pengukuran tinggi dan berat badan, kemampuan sprint diukur menggunakan Sprint Test 30 meter, sedangkan kapasitas aerobik diukur menggunakan Bleep Test yang dikonversi menjadi nilai VO₂max. Analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan uji prasyarat, dilanjutkan dengan uji korelasi Pearson Product Moment. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara IMT dan waktu sprint 30 meter (r = 0,651; p < 0,001). Selain itu, terdapat hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara IMT dan kapasitas aerobik (VO₂max) (r = [nilai r]; p = [nilai p]). Temuan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan IMT berkaitan dengan peningkatan waktu tempuh sprint 30 meter dan penurunan kapasitas aerobik pemain.
